This module introduces students to the fundamental principles of safe and effective medication management in clinical practice. It focuses on the responsibilities of nurses in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of medications while ensuring patient safety and adherence to professional and legal standards.
Students will develop knowledge and skills related to medication calculations, the “rights” of medication administration, infection prevention, documentation, and the identification and reporting of medication errors or adverse reactions. Emphasis is placed on maintaining accuracy, accountability, and ethical practice when handling medications in a healthcare environment.
By the end of this module, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of safe medication practices, apply clinical judgement when administering medications, and follow established policies and procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes.
